Ernest Holmes and Norman Vincent Peale were contemporaries of the 1950’s during which time the “new thought” movement (which has gotten an unwarranted bad rap in our culture, though some criticism is warranted). Two spiritually great human beings, leaders in their time. Their leadership and words are profoundly truthful and timeless.
Here are some quotes from Norman Vincent Peale:
“Any fact facing us is not as important as our attitude toward it, for that determines our success or failure. The way you think about a fact may defeat you before you ever do anything about it. You are overcome by the fact because you think you are.”
“Be interesting, be enthusiastic… and don’t talk too much.”
“Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.”
“Change yourself and your work will seem different.”
“Change your thoughts and you change your world.”
